7 stunning (and disturbing) photos that prove the humanity of preborn children

Becky Yeh

January 5, 2016 (LiveActionNews) — Images shape dialogue, and dialogue births change. Photographs that capture the Great Depression, the Holocaust, and the Civil Rights Movement are not only a testament of an era, but also examples of how photos are an effective tool for social change. The powerful images that fill the pages of history have initiated the struggle for justice and propelled the human spirit.

Perhaps the most effective method to convey the violence of abortion, the brutality of the abortion industry, and the dignity of human life is through photography. Below are seven moving images that speak volumes of the violence of abortion and the humanity of preborn children.

Warning: contains some graphic images.

1) Baby Adelaide Caines

Image

In September, 2014, U.K. mother Emily Caines released this gripping image of her premature daughter, Adelaide, who was delivered at 24 weeks. In an interview with The Mirror, Caines said she shared the photo of her daughter with the public as a testament to the humanity of the preborn child, and to show the hypocrisy of an abortion law in the United Kingdom that allows babies to be slaughtered at up to 24 weeks’ gestation.

“Our picture shows Adelaide was not a feotus, she was a fully formed human being,” Caines told the Mirror. “To think that a baby like her could be legally terminated on grounds of a lifestyle choice is to me is horrifying.”

The U.K. Mirror reported that this powerful image of little Adelaide is the only photo her parents have of her living outside of the womb, since Adelaide passed away shortly after birth due to complications.

2) Baby Nathan Isaiah

Image

Miscarried at 13 weeks and 4 days, baby Nathan Isaiah’s short life inside the womb affirms the humanity of the preborn at the earliest stages of life. Nathan’s parents, Allison and Daniel, learned they lost their son after they requested to hear Nathan’s heartbeat on the Doppler during the 15th week of pregnancy. When no heartbeat registered, the family visited the emergency room to obtain an ultrasound and learned that Nathan had passed away a few weeks prior.

“His little body was so perfect, with ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes,” his mother said. “He had a nose, a mouth, two little eyes and ears.”

While the family grieved Nathan’s loss, they also shared the value of each human life through Nathan’s story.

3) Gosnell’s “House of Horrors”

Image

Gruesome details from Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s “House of Horrors” revealed that the abortionist killed children born alive as a result of failed abortions, and brutally stabbed the necks of some with scissors. As images and testimony emerged, the world learned in shock.

One such child named Baby Boy B was discovered during a raid of Gosnell’s abortion facility, frozen in a red biohazard bag among 46 other aborted children. The medical examiner told the grand jury that at roughly 28 weeks, Baby Boy B’s spinal cord had been severed, and his neck bore the familiar scissor wound inflicted by Gosnell. Images depicting Gosnell’s inhumane and barbaric killings of these children underline the violent nature of late-term abortions.

4) Hands and feet of a 9-week-old child

Image

Images of aborted babies are historically powerful tools in affirming the humanity of preborn children and the atrocity of abortion. This image of the arms and feet of a nine-week-old baby placed on a quarter displays perfectly formed fingers and toes.

Since most abortions occur during the first trimester, these images make it impossible to ignore the humanity of a child, even in the earliest stages of life. Fetal imagery exposes the graphic nature of abortion and the violence it inflicts on a preborn child.

5) “Hand of Hope”

Image

Dubbed the “Hand of Hope,” this incredible image of baby Samuel Armas grasping a surgeon’s finger was captured by photographer Michael Clancy. Doctors operated on baby Samuel in utero after he was diagnosed with spina bifida. Clancy noted that before he captured the iconic image, he was “indifferent” to the issue of abortion. “It’s just a miracle picture, a miracle moment,” Clancy told Fox News in an interview years later. “It shows the earliest human interaction ever recorded.”

Armas’s mother, interviewed 10 years after the iconic image was taken, told Fox News: “Samuel identifies it more in terms of a pro-life message more than anything.” She said, “This photo happened and God used it to show people that this baby in mom’s tummy is alive. He’s pleased that his photo conveyed that message.”

6) Forced abortions in China

Image

In 2012, a heartbreaking image of a baby killed in China shed light on China’s grievous one-child policy. The image of a baby at nine months’ gestation shows the dead child submerged in a bucket of water. The photograph was reportedly posted to the Chinese web services company Baidu before it sparked outrage across Chinese social media sites. English reports note that the pregnant mother was forced into labor and the child was left in the bucket of water to drown after birth. Women’s Rights Without Frontiers Founder Reggie Littlejohn told LifeSite that children are violently killed in late-term abortions across China.

“Forced abortion is China’s war against women,” Littlejohn said. “It is official government rape. Late term babies are injected with poison in their skulls or drowned in buckets.”

Other images of forced abortions in China have also sparked outrage.

7) Baby Walter Joshua Fretz

Image

In summer of 2013, Lexi Fretz was 19 weeks pregnant with her son. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until Fretz saw that the mild spotting she noticed a few days prior had turned unusually pink. Concerned, Fretz checked herself into an emergency room, and later that evening, she unexpectedly went into labor. Her 19-week-old son, Walter, did not live long outside of the womb, and died just minutes after birth.

“I held him, cuddled him, while his heart was beating I held him to my heart,” Fretz recalled. “I counted his toes and kissed his tiny head. I will always cherish those memories that I have of him. He was fully formed and everything was there, I could see his heart beating in his tiny chest.”

Image

These moving images of Walter taken by Fretz’s husband have impacted thousands.

Christmas is in the air … and in shop windows … and in hotel lobbies. Wreathes decorate doors, Santa posters are everywhere, life size wooden reindeer grace front yards filled with cotton snow, and familiar Christmas hymns play in shops and restaurants.

That probably sounds like the same old, same old, that we see in American neighborhoods every year … except it isn’t.

All of this is happening in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, a Communist and Buddhist country. Such decorations began to appear only four or five years ago, and they grow bigger and better each holiday season.

Of course, there is something missing from the decorations: there are no mangers, no creches, no Baby. The Birthday Boy is not part of the celebration.

As I have observed here first hand (and in the U.S.) the growing acceptance of Christmas without the Christ Child, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the acceptance of abortion in the U.S. In the nearly 43 year discussion about abortion, too often the human being with the most at stake – the innocent, defenseless baby – is left out of the picture.

Unborn babies are missing in slogans, such as the one that says, “Black Lives Matter.” The truth is, to the abortion industry, “Only Some Black Lives Matter.” The Black population is targeted by the abortion movement so that, for instance, in New York City more black babies are aborted than are born. Countrywide the percentage of abortions in the Black Community far outweighs the percentage of Blacks in the general population.

Unborn babies are missing in ads, such as the one that played worldwide at the time of the Conference on Climate Change that says: “The most important number you’ve never heard about is – 2 degrees.” (That is the aim of some for reducing the planet’s temperature by “2 degrees.”) The most important number most Americans have never heard about is that the population of the U.S. has been reduced by the abortion of more than 57 million unborn children since abortion was made legal in all 50 States in 1973.

Unborn babies are missing in common sense appeals to Americans that say, “If you see something, say something.” That is a wise reminder after the current terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernadino. However, if pro-lifers “say something” about the humanity of the unborn child, they are accused of racism, sexism, and, of denying women their constitutional right.

Unborn babies are missing in rhetoric, such as the so-called “War on Women.” It claims that any pro-life attempt to protect unborn children places an “undue burden” on women’s freedom and women’s choice. Yet, increasingly sex-selection abortions are performed with females chosen for destruction more often than are males.

Despite all of this, the Pro-Life movement has, indeed, “moved mountains.”

* The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) tell us that the number of abortions are continuing to drop–by 4.2% in 2012.

* The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a major abortion case — Whole Women’s Health v. Cole.

* The abortion rate has halved since 1974 according to the Centers for Disease Control.

* Pro-life legislators in the Congress have become more vocal and active in seeking change relating to abortions.

* Individual states have enacted over 200 regulations in the past four years alone which protect the well-being of women and recognize the ability of unborn children to experience pain.

* A large number of Republican presidential candidates are well-informed and outspoken on the life issues.

* Even our well-financed opposition concedes that younger Americans are more pro-life than ever before.

After nearly 43 years of legalized abortion, while the numbers have changed, the victims have changed, the procedures have changed, so, too, have millions of minds been changed by the work, witness and education of pro-life citizens in every state of the Union.

The evidence is in: Truth is always greater than the illusion of truth.

Recently, we marked 60 years since Rosa Parks boldly refused to give up her bus seat. Her courageous act had a tremendous ripple effect nationwide, changing hearts and minds and inspiring others to get involved in the cause for civil rights. Her story reminds each of us that one person’s activism can have a huge impact.

The National Right to Life Academy, a five-week summer program held at NRLC’s DC headquarters, trains pro-life student activists to become effective advocates for life. The ripple effect of the program’s graduates can be felt across the country.

Over the five weeks of the program, pro-life students learn from the foremost leaders in the pro-life movement on a variety of topics, including abortion, euthanasia, stem cell research, Planned Parenthood, legislative strategy, lobbying, politics, communication, grassroots organizing, social media, and more.

Graduates of the program are currently working for state pro-life groups, starting local right-to-life chapters, aiding in the efforts of crisis pregnancy centers and bringing a pro-life perspective to their workplaces in the medical, legal, and social work fields.

Notable graduates include John Seago, the legislative director for Texas Right to Life. John was instrumental in the passage of the Texas pro-life omnibus bill HB-2.

Chelsea Shields currently serves as the legislative/PAC director for Wisconsin Right to Life. She testified before a legislative committee on Wisconsin’s Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which was ultimately passed and signed into law.

Since his graduation from the program in 2014, Brock Schmeling went on to become the executive director of North Dakota Right to Life. Brock also serves on the National Right to Life Board of Directors representing North Dakota.

Lacey Dent serves on the board of West Virginians for Life and heads up a county chapter in Tucker County, West Virginia. Lacey is also a frequent pro-life speaker in her home state.

Tuition for the program is $3,600 and includes the cost of the program itself, housing in downtown Washington, DC, and registration/lodging at the National Right to Life Convention. Scholarships may be available!

The National Right to Life Academy is focused on equipping young pro-life leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to put their pro-life passion to work. The efforts of just one person can make an incredible difference. And with an estimated 58 million lives lost since 1973, now is the time for each one of us to stand up and be a voice for the voiceless.

One Hour for the Christ Child This Saturday 12/19!

Friends for Life:

What a wonderful time of year Advent is! For many of you I’m sure you may feel busy and maybe even a little stressed getting ready for all things Christmas, but for just one moment – close your eyes and reflect: God became man. God became a baby.

While we reflect on that awesome, amazing, life-changing, world-altering reality of God becoming a vulnerable child I pray that you might consider joining me as we stand to protect other vulnerable children this Advent Season.

This Saturday December 19 at 12:30 p.m. we’ll gather at 1160 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo to pray for an hour in honor of the Christ Child at Capital Care, Toledo’s last remaining abortion facility. Nick De La Torre from OF THE TOWER will join us to lead us in song, and Fr. Jeff Walker from St. Rose in Perrysburg will also join us to lead us in prayer.

Please consider joining us to pray and honor the dignity of every human life there – from the abortion doctor, to the nurses, to the unborn children in danger of abortion. We especially pray for “D” who we encountered this week who is planning on having an abortion on Saturday. Pray that our pro-life, pro-peace, pro-joy witness may convince her to choose life!!! Join us to pray!

Let His Kingdom Come,

Peter

Jahi McMath’s Father Sues Hospital for Trying to Kill his Daughter

Jahi McMath’s father sues hospital for trying to kill his daughter

News,

Fr. Mark Hodges

OAKLAND, California, December 17, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – 13-year-old Jahi McMath went into cardiac arrest after a routine tonsillectomy in 2013. Jahi was in oxygen-deprived cardiac arrest for two hours, causing brain damage. Though Jahi lived, her doctors said she was “brain-dead,” and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and Alameda County officials issued a death certificate.

Since Jahi has been declared “dead,” insurance no longer covers her health care.

Jahi’s mother, Nailah Winkfield, sued Jahi’s doctor, Dr. Frederick Rosen, for failing to tell her that Jahi’s surgery would be “complex and risky” due to Jahi’s susceptibility to heavy bleeding and for failing to share that risk with nurses taking care of her recovery after surgery.

Jahi began coughing up blood the morning after the surgery; the nurses didn’t know she had a risk of serious hemorrhage. The nurses told Nailah Winkfield that Jahi’s bleeding was “normal.” One nurse even used a suction device to clear the bleeding. Eventually, Jahi’s heart stopped, causing brain damage.

Now, Jahi’s biological father, Milton McMath, has sued as well.

Jahi caught the attention of the media when her mother refused to take her off life support. The Winkfields removed Jahi from Oakland to New Jersey, where she continues to live and her vitals are strong.

The Winkfields note that Jahi’s heart is beating on its own, and her organs are not failing, as would be the case if she were brain-dead. They have released several videos showing Jahi moving and reacting to stimuli.

In October, a judge ruled that Jahi’s family could present evidence to determine if she is alive or dead. If dead, the suit would be for wrongful death, with a maximum of $250,000 for damages.

If Jahi is declared legally alive, the lawsuit could be for many millions of dollars.

Contact Your Rep: Vote Friday to Defund Planned Parenthood

The House will vote this Friday on a reconciliation bill that defunds Planned Parenthood. This legislative process could put a bill defunding Planned Parenthood on President Obama’s desk and force him to respond!
>> TAKE ACTION: Call your representative and then email your representative TODAY and tell them to vote YES on the reconciliation bill defunding Planned Parenthood.

This is big news, especially on top of Planned Parenthood’s virtual admission of guilt last week. They announced they will no longer take money in exchange for the organs and tissue they harvest from the bodies of aborted babies. On top of that, the public disapproval rating of Planned Parenthood has reached a new high. Planned Parenthood is on the defensive now, and we need to continue to press forward in the fight to defund their abortion-centered enterprise.

As a former Member of Congress, I can tell you that a phone call is the single most effective way to get your point across to your Representative. Please call them TODAY and tell them to vote YES on Friday on the reconciliation bill defunding Planned Parenthood.

Additionally, please email your representative today and ask them to vote that way as well.

We want their phones ringing off the hook and their inboxes filled with messages as this important vote approaches.

Thank you,
Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave Vice President for Government Affairs Susan B. Anthony List

Support defunding PP, Rollback of Obamacare in Budgetreconciliation Bill

We never quit! Pro-lifers know it sometimes takes many repeated attempts to pass life-saving legislation. Recently, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) reminded Americans from the floor of the Senate just how many times it took to pass the landmark Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.
But the lives that law saved made it worth everything we did!
The same holds true for our work to defund Planned Parenthood. The scandals of this summer have exposed their abuses to the nation – and millions of Americans are saying they don’t want their tax dollars to go to this abortion behemoth!
Democrats in the U.S. Senate, to their shame, have repeatedly filibustered and blocked us from even getting votes to end Planned Parenthood’s funding and to end the anti-life abuses in Obamacare, but we haven’t given up.
And we never will!
So National Right to Life is strongly supporting and working to pass a new effort to cut about $400 million in Planned Parenthood’s funding and repeal several odious provisions of Obamacare in H.R.3762 – the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015.
Budget reconciliation is a process Congress can use only on certain kinds of legislation. But the genius of this approach is that budget reconciliation is one of the few procedures where senators in opposition cannot filibuster to block a bill. They have to allow a vote!
That means a bill can be passed with the support of a majority of senators – 51votes – instead of the 60 votes needed to stop a bill-killing filibuster.
And that would make it much harder for pro-abortion Democrats in the Senate to kill our efforts to pass legislation to cut funding to Planned Parenthood!
The budget reconciliation process is not a slam-dunk, but getting the bill through Congress is doable! We’re working hard to make our support known to members of Congress and to win their votes.
But we need to do more!
First, we need all pro-lifers to contact their representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives to urge them to vote for H.R. 3762, as this bill would save many, many lives if enacted. You can email your representative and senators by clicking here – then you just enter your address, and in a minute or less you can send an appropriate email to your representative in the U.S. House of Representatives.
If we pass this bill in the House, that’s just our first step, though. We also need to pass it in the Senate, with the 51-vote threshold.
So we need your help to communicate with grassroots pro-lifers all across America, to get them to flood their senators’ and House members’ offices with calls, letters, and emails demanding we pass a budget reconciliation bill that cuts Planned Parenthood’s funds and significantly rolls back Obamacare!
Please help today with your generous support – a gift of $250, $100, or $50 would help us reach thousands of additional Americans. With your support we can tell them what the pro-abortion side is doing to keep their precious funding, who is helping them in the House and Senate, and what they can do to help us defeat Planned Parenthood and end some of the worst life-threatening abuses of Obamacare!
Any donation will help us get the word out – please help us achieve that with your generous gift today!
Thank you!

U.S. House to vote Friday on cutting $400 million from Planned Parenthood!

U.S. House to vote Friday on cutting $400 million from Planned Parenthood!
This is an urgent CALL ALERT from National Right to Life headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The office of your representative in the U.S. House of Representatives needs to get a call from you TODAY about an imminent vote on a major pro-life bill.

The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote Friday (Oct. 23) on a special fast-track bill (H.R. 3762) that would cut off nearly 90% of the federal funds that go to Planned Parenthood — about $400 million! This is a special kind of bill called the “reconciliation bill,” that CANNOT BE FILIBUSTERED in the U.S. Senate. But before the Senate can take it up, it first must pass the House!

Please, don’t assume that your representative will support the bill just because he or she “always votes pro-life.” Regrettably, a few “conservative” voices are trying to block this bill, because it doesn’t do everything they want on some other matters. Your representative needs to hear from you NOW that YOU want him or her to vote for “the pro-life reconciliation bill, H.R. 3762,” to cut about $400 million from Planned Parenthood.

This will take just a few minutes. Click here to start the fast and easy Call Alert process. When you enter your zip code, you will be shown the name of the person who represents you in the U.S. House, and the correct phone number to call. You will also see suggested short talking points that you can refer to, if you wish, when you reach the lawmaker’s staff.

In addition, after you’ve completed your call, you’ll have the option of using an easy tool to send National Right to Life a short email message about how your representative intends to vote. Your optional email report will assist NRLC’s efforts to pass this vital pro-life legislation.
