Contact Your Rep: Vote Friday to Defund Planned Parenthood

The House will vote this Friday on a reconciliation bill that defunds Planned Parenthood. This legislative process could put a bill defunding Planned Parenthood on President Obama’s desk and force him to respond!
>> TAKE ACTION: Call your representative and then email your representative TODAY and tell them to vote YES on the reconciliation bill defunding Planned Parenthood.

This is big news, especially on top of Planned Parenthood’s virtual admission of guilt last week. They announced they will no longer take money in exchange for the organs and tissue they harvest from the bodies of aborted babies. On top of that, the public disapproval rating of Planned Parenthood has reached a new high. Planned Parenthood is on the defensive now, and we need to continue to press forward in the fight to defund their abortion-centered enterprise.

As a former Member of Congress, I can tell you that a phone call is the single most effective way to get your point across to your Representative. Please call them TODAY and tell them to vote YES on Friday on the reconciliation bill defunding Planned Parenthood.

Additionally, please email your representative today and ask them to vote that way as well.

We want their phones ringing off the hook and their inboxes filled with messages as this important vote approaches.

Thank you,
Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave Vice President for Government Affairs Susan B. Anthony List

Support defunding PP, Rollback of Obamacare in Budgetreconciliation Bill

We never quit! Pro-lifers know it sometimes takes many repeated attempts to pass life-saving legislation. Recently, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) reminded Americans from the floor of the Senate just how many times it took to pass the landmark Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.
But the lives that law saved made it worth everything we did!
The same holds true for our work to defund Planned Parenthood. The scandals of this summer have exposed their abuses to the nation – and millions of Americans are saying they don’t want their tax dollars to go to this abortion behemoth!
Democrats in the U.S. Senate, to their shame, have repeatedly filibustered and blocked us from even getting votes to end Planned Parenthood’s funding and to end the anti-life abuses in Obamacare, but we haven’t given up.
And we never will!
So National Right to Life is strongly supporting and working to pass a new effort to cut about $400 million in Planned Parenthood’s funding and repeal several odious provisions of Obamacare in H.R.3762 – the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015.
Budget reconciliation is a process Congress can use only on certain kinds of legislation. But the genius of this approach is that budget reconciliation is one of the few procedures where senators in opposition cannot filibuster to block a bill. They have to allow a vote!
That means a bill can be passed with the support of a majority of senators – 51votes – instead of the 60 votes needed to stop a bill-killing filibuster.
And that would make it much harder for pro-abortion Democrats in the Senate to kill our efforts to pass legislation to cut funding to Planned Parenthood!
The budget reconciliation process is not a slam-dunk, but getting the bill through Congress is doable! We’re working hard to make our support known to members of Congress and to win their votes.
But we need to do more!
First, we need all pro-lifers to contact their representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives to urge them to vote for H.R. 3762, as this bill would save many, many lives if enacted. You can email your representative and senators by clicking here – then you just enter your address, and in a minute or less you can send an appropriate email to your representative in the U.S. House of Representatives.
If we pass this bill in the House, that’s just our first step, though. We also need to pass it in the Senate, with the 51-vote threshold.
So we need your help to communicate with grassroots pro-lifers all across America, to get them to flood their senators’ and House members’ offices with calls, letters, and emails demanding we pass a budget reconciliation bill that cuts Planned Parenthood’s funds and significantly rolls back Obamacare!
Please help today with your generous support – a gift of $250, $100, or $50 would help us reach thousands of additional Americans. With your support we can tell them what the pro-abortion side is doing to keep their precious funding, who is helping them in the House and Senate, and what they can do to help us defeat Planned Parenthood and end some of the worst life-threatening abuses of Obamacare!
Any donation will help us get the word out – please help us achieve that with your generous gift today!
Thank you!

U.S. House to vote Friday on cutting $400 million from Planned Parenthood!

U.S. House to vote Friday on cutting $400 million from Planned Parenthood!
This is an urgent CALL ALERT from National Right to Life headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The office of your representative in the U.S. House of Representatives needs to get a call from you TODAY about an imminent vote on a major pro-life bill.

The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote Friday (Oct. 23) on a special fast-track bill (H.R. 3762) that would cut off nearly 90% of the federal funds that go to Planned Parenthood — about $400 million! This is a special kind of bill called the “reconciliation bill,” that CANNOT BE FILIBUSTERED in the U.S. Senate. But before the Senate can take it up, it first must pass the House!

Please, don’t assume that your representative will support the bill just because he or she “always votes pro-life.” Regrettably, a few “conservative” voices are trying to block this bill, because it doesn’t do everything they want on some other matters. Your representative needs to hear from you NOW that YOU want him or her to vote for “the pro-life reconciliation bill, H.R. 3762,” to cut about $400 million from Planned Parenthood.

This will take just a few minutes. Click here to start the fast and easy Call Alert process. When you enter your zip code, you will be shown the name of the person who represents you in the U.S. House, and the correct phone number to call. You will also see suggested short talking points that you can refer to, if you wish, when you reach the lawmaker’s staff.

In addition, after you’ve completed your call, you’ll have the option of using an easy tool to send National Right to Life a short email message about how your representative intends to vote. Your optional email report will assist NRLC’s efforts to pass this vital pro-life legislation.

This Saturday: Attend a Planned Parenthood Protest Near You

The series of undercover Planned Parenthood videos released by The Center for Medical Progress have provided a wake-up call to many Americans about the gruesome practices of the nation’s largest abortion provider.

To speak out against the atrocities, pro-lifers from across the country are rallying outside of Planned Parenthood clinics this Saturday, October 10.

Please find a location near you and then attend one of the Protest Planned Parenthood rallies in your area Saturday!

The message is simple. Women and babies deserve better than Planned Parenthood.

Moreover, our taxpayer dollars should NOT be going to the nation’s largest abortion business, especially not after they have been caught on tape trafficking in the organs of aborted babies.

Your SBA List is one of many pro-life groups co-sponsoring this week’s rallies. I hope you can attend to help raise awareness about Planned Parenthood’s barbarity

For Life,

Billy Valentine
Director of Government Affairs
Susan B. Anthony List

P.S. If you’re on Twitter, be sure to use the #ProtestPP hashtag to tweet about this week’s rallies.

Ohio Right to Life Argues Issue 3 Endangers Born and Unborn Babies

Ohio Right to Life Argues Issue 3 Endangers Born and Unborn Babies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE       CONTACT: Katherine Franklin
DATE: Wednesday, October 7, 2015     PHONE: 614-547-0099 ext. 304

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Today, the Ohio Right to Life Society announced its strong opposition to statewide ballot Issue 3, the marijuana-monopoly-legalization amendment on the November 3 ballot. Studies show that smoking marijuana during pregnancy can increase the risk of miscarriage, low birth weight, premature births, developmental delays, behavioral and learning problems and in some cases fetal death.Issue 3 would allow unfettered access to marijuana without any restrictions during pregnancy. Current science is in opposition to pregnant women ingesting any recreational drugs and smoking any substance. Consumption of illegal drugs is not safe for the unborn baby or for the mother. As Ohio continues to address its infant mortality crisis, the Ohio Right to Life Society believes that it is critical for all Ohioans to take a stand against the mass legalization of a drug that poses serious health risks to unborn children.

“The health and safety of our children both born and unborn compels our organization to take a firm position against Issue 3,” said Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life. “Ohio’s babies already face numerous threats to their right to life without a statewide marijuana industry compounding those threats. Further, Ohio Right to Life believes any marijuana made available for the purpose of adult recreational use leads to youth access and is not in the best interest of the health and well being of Ohio’s children.”

The Ohio Right to Life Society joins multiple organizations in opposing Issue 3: Ohio Children’s Hospital Association, Ohio State Medical Association, Ohio Hospital Association, Ohio Nurses Association, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Ohio Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics, Catholic Conference of Ohio, and more.

“Just as we have always done, Ohio Right to Life continues to seek ways to protect human beings across the whole spectrum of life,” said Gonidakis. “A whole host of medical associations are opposing the broad legalization of recreational marijuana for a reason: Marijuana simply isn’t risk free. It poses serious consequences for innocent human beings who are completely vulnerable to harmful choices. The Ohio Right to Life Society urges Ohio voters to consider these babies’ innocence and their complete vulnerability and vote ‘no’ on Issue 3 this fall.”

Founded in 1967, Ohio Right to Life, with more than 45 chapters and local affiliates, is Ohio’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement in Ohio, ORTL works through legislation and education to promote and defend innocent human life from conception to natural death.
