poll-img-130920As the United States House and Senate jockey over funding ObamaCare and the “health insurance exchanges” it created are about to launch, a Washington Post/ABC News poll released today speaks volumes about how the public sees the “Affordable Care Act” three years later.

Overall the results show opposition to ObamaCare and a deep conviction neither the federal government nor the states are prepared. The headline to the ABC News story explaining the results is “Obamacare Arrives 3 Years Later, Little Understood and Not Well-Liked.” What do the results tell us?

Democrats for Life files amicus brief to support sidewalk counselors

Democrats for Life files amicus brief to support sidewalk counselors

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 19, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – This week, Democrats For Life of America filed an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief in the U.S. Supreme Court, supporting the freedom of pro-life sidewalk counselors to continue to offer alternatives to women seeking abortions.

The case,McCullen v. Coakley, involves a Massachusetts law that imposes a 35-foot buffer zone around abortion clinic entryways and driveways, violating the First Amendment rights of counselors to communicate information about support and alternatives and the right of women willing to receive such information.

“We often hear in the political battlefield about the protecting a women’s right to choose,” said Kristen Day, executive director of Democrats For Life. “Many women who visit clinics do not think there is an option other than abortion. The petitioners offer financial support, food, housing, health care, and other information and support to provide women with a real choice.”

Her words contradict the claim that pro-lifers do not care about women, a regular theme among many pro-abortion Democrats.

Ohio Democrats Ban Pro-Life Group From Public Hearing on Abortion

Ohio Democrats Ban Pro-Life Group From Public Hearing on Abortion

by Katie McCann | Columbus, OH | LifeNews.com | 9/19/13 1:28 PM

Yesterday, a committee of House Democrats held a “hearing” at the Ohio Statehouse to smear Ohio Right to Life’s five pro-life budget amendments.

The pro-abortion lobbyists and politicians marketed the event as a “hearing” on women’s health–without expecting to have to follow hearing rules. It seems that the pro-abortion lobbyists and politicians were attempting to disguise a dog-and-pony-show press conference as a “hearing” in an attempt to regain some of their ever-diminishing credibility.

In accordance with the expectations that a public hearing is open to the public and therefore open to testimonies from both sides, Ohio Right to Life arrived to defend our strong pro-life budget, asking to offer testimony.

The pro-abortion Democrats were quick to deny us the opportunity to speak the truth and let Ohio women hear the other side.

Instead, the “hearing” was a series of testimonies from six pro-abortion witnesses that represented organizations like NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.

Pope Francis: Catholic Church Must Minister More to Women After Abortion

Pope Francis: Catholic Church Must Minister More to Women After Abortion
While not compromising the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church or watering them down by saying they should be emphasized any less, Pope Francis said the Catholic Church must do more to minister to women who have had abortions.

The mainstream media today has misrepresented the Pope’s abortion views in a wide-ranging new interview, suggesting he is saying the Catholic Church should downplay it’s pro-life teachings. What Pope Francis did say is that the Catholic Church should simultaneously speak out against abortion while providing hope and healing for women who have them and see their lives destroyed by their abortions.

Dead Man Walking

Dear Friend,
A death row inmate on his journey to be executed is referred to by the prison guards as “dead man walking.”  He’s usually exhausted all his legal options trying to save his life, and whether innocent or not, the end is near.   When an abortion is scheduled for an innocent child in the womb, the child gets no legal options to try and save it’s life.  It is simply the decision of the mother to terminate the life, no matter what the reason.  A convicted killer has more legal protection than an innocent child.  Take a look at the following photo:
This full page ad was inspired by and paid for by a generous donor, and will run
in newspapers owned by Record Publishing (Cuyahoga Falls News Press, Stow Sentry, etc.) this Sunday, and in some, on next Wednesday. (FYI: Leader Publications…West Side Leader and South Side News Leader…refused to run it, and wouldn’t even discuss options for editing it to meet their approval.)  We don’t normally do this type of advertising, but the donor’s offer was too good to pass up, and the message is compelling.  I imagine the ad will stir up a lot of reaction for pro-abortion advocates, and that’s where YOU come in.  The ad asks people to respond on our facebook page.
There will probably be some very negative responses, and we don’t want to delete anything as long as the language isn’t inappropriate.  What we hope is that pro-life advocates would respond and defend life in a Christian and common sense manner whenever there is a negative comment.  It would speak volumes if there were life affirming responses other than those that we post ourselves.  Check our facebook page at www.facebook.com/NEOhioLife

often over the next couple of weeks and help us to uphold the sanctity of life!
If you live in one of the communities where the ad will be running, tear the ad
out and show it around.  You’ll never know just how many lives might be saved and hearts will be changed by showing just what abortion is…the end of an innocent, human life.
Fr. Frank Pavone, the head of Priests for Life, says that America will never end
abortion until it sees abortion.  This ad is mild in comparison to the violence
of abortion, but hopefully it will wake up many and start them on their way to
re-evaluating the incredible miracle of God’s gift of life.  If this ad starts a
dialog, then it is doing it’s job.  If someone needs more convincing, send them
to our website at www.rtlofneo.com/abortion [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001312Hcym2rIiRZDYfJLi1h9jKd54N4o1TgDlqytE4RU9A2G3d7yaXY80sNXY6f0A51J5PY5sG-RWwkZ1d-Qhpry0dAn8fH9bEW6v1qlqlueHFSkEKDBvT6O-43PLsfitb]
for more disturbing evidence.  We will continue the battle to save lives through
prayer and responsible actions as our work goes on.

Pope condemns abortion in strongest pro-life comments to date, day after controversial interview

Pope condemns abortion in strongest pro-life comments to date, day after controversial interview

BY JOHN-HENRY WESTEN

  • Fri Sep 20, 2013 09:50 EST

ROME, September 20, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a meeting with Catholic gynaecologists this morning Pope Francis strongly condemned abortion as a manifestation of a “throwaway culture.”

“Every unborn child, though unjustly condemned to be aborted, has the face of the Lord, who even before his birth, and then as soon as he was born, experienced the rejection of the world,” the pope said.

The comments come one day after the release of an in-depth interview in which the Pope had explained that despite criticism he has avoided speaking about moral issues like abortion and gay “marriage” in his papacy, instead focusing on preaching about the love of Christ.

Washington, DC | 9/18/13 1:50 PM

The former leader singer of Kansas, known for such hits as “Dust in the Wind” and “Carry on My Wayward Son,” has produced a touching video to go along with a new single he’s released that tells the story of his adopted daughter’s birth.

Grammy-winning songwriter and producer John Elefante is using his newest song “This Time” to share the story of his adopted daughter’s birth and to help a pro-life group that uses the power of the Internet to help pregnant women considering abortion.

Elefante is well-known in the music business and, after singing for Kansas, he fronted the Christian rock band Mastedon with his brother and went on to produce well-known Chrisitan music artists including Guardian and other top Christian pop and rock bands.

Abortion Practitioner Failed to Report Statutory Rape of 13-Year-Old Girl

Abortion Practitioner Failed to Report Statutory Rape of 13-Year-Old Girl

by Steven Ertelt | Fort Wayne, IN | LifeNews.com | 9/18/13 9:56 AM

An Indiana abortion practitioner is coming under fire today for failing to file a timely report on the abortion he did on a 13-year-old girl who was victimized by statutory rape.

Allen County Right to Life, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, filed complaints today with the Indiana Attorney General’s office and the Indiana Medical Licensing Board over the Fort Wayne abortion doctor failing to properly report an abortion on a 13-year-old as required by state law. The age of the patient surfaced as ACRTL director Cathie Humbarger reviewed publicly-available terminated pregnancy reports from the state health department.

The report shows that a 13-year-old had an abortion performed by Dr. Ulrich Klopfer, of the Fort Wayne Women’s Health Organization abortion facility, on February 7. The Indiana Department of Health reported receiving the report on July 25, not within three days of the abortion procedure as specified by law.

According to Indiana abortion law, a physician performing an abortion on a patient less than 14 years of age must file a state-issued form within three days of the abortion with the state department of health and the department of child services. Indiana law specifies that failure to report is punishable with a Class B misdemeanor.

Humbarger told LifeNews today that her group filed complaints along with sidewalk counselor Evelyn Witte.

“It’s heartbreaking to learn that a 13-year-old became pregnant and now must live with the pain of an abortion for the rest of her life, but it’s doubly-heartbreaking that Dr. Klopfer’s failure to report the abortion may have allowed the girl’s molester to walk free,” she said.

Millions Visit Family Graves Yearly, 2,300 Visit Gravesites of Babies Abortion Kills

Millions Visit Family Graves Yearly, 2,300 Visit Gravesites of Babies Abortion Kills

by John Jansen | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 9/17/13 5:39 PM

On Saturday, September 14, thousands of pro-lifers gathered at over 100 gravesites of aborted babies and other memorials to the unborn located nationwide to observe the first annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children.

National Day of Remembrance in four cities

With attendance figures still being tallied, the current total stands at over 2,300 attendees nationwide.

The date of September 14, 2013, was chosen for this event because it marks the 25th anniversary of the burial of several hundred abortion victims at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where a crowd of 300 mourners attended a memorial service this past Saturday. Among the speakers at this service were Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz, bishop emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln (Nebraska), and Bishop Donald Hying, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Several other Catholic bishops took part in memorial services held within their dioceses, including Cardinal Francis George, the Archbishop of Chicago, who spoke at a service held at the gravesite of 2,033 aborted babies buried at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois, and Bishop Earl Boyea of the Diocese of Lansing, who spoke at a service at the gravesite of 17 aborted babies at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lansing, Michigan.

Reactions from attendees at memorial services across the country were overwhelmingly positive, with many reporting that they were moved to tears.

Renewed Priests for Life Pro-Life Training Announced

Renewed Priests for Life Pro-Life Training Announced
Presentations include Archdiocese of Chicago, EWTN, and the Vatican

This week and next, Priests for Life is announcing new efforts in the pro-life education of the clergy and laity. Building on the work of the last two decades, Priests for Life will present renewed initiatives to train people how to live out their commitment to protecting human life. “The pro-life effort is not simply a cause, a movement, or a political position,” explained Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “All that has its place. But pro-life is, at its core, a spirituality. The Gospels and the teachings of the Church not only teach us why we are pro-life; they teach us how to live it. There are specific virtues we need, and these virtues shape pro-life activity and strategy.”

Priests for Life just produced new programs for EWTN which reflect this spirituality, and this week Fr. Frank will present it, at the invitation of the Vatican, to a conference of jurists sponsored by the Pontifical Council for the Family.  Then, at the end of the week, Fr. Frank will again present this approach in Chicago.

The Archdiocese of Chicago’s Respect Life Office, with the blessing of His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., has invited Fr. Frank to lead a special leadership retreat for Parish Respect Life Coordinators to help them spiritually and mentally prepare for Respect Life Month and another great year of pro-life parish ministry.

“Several years ago, I went to a pro-life retreat that was led by Fr. Frank, and since then, I have wanted to provide this type of experience to all of our Parish Respect Life Coordinators” said Margie Breen, Director of the Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

“I first came to know of Fr. Frank Pavone and Priests for Life from Father’s appearances on several different EWTN shows.  First, it was Father asking people to view the horrible abortion pictures on his Priests for Life website that got me involved in the pro-life movement.  Second, I credit Father for my full time pro-life ministry.  It was during one of his EWTN homilies that he asked people to leave their current full time work and find ways to work full time in the pro-life movement.  I stepped out in faith, and God opened the doors to my current ministry as Respect Life Office Director.  The road hasn’t been easy, but it never is when you are working to fight one of the worst injustices of our time.  I am grateful to Father Frank and Priests for Life for their important ministry!,” Margie concluded.

Fr. Frank explained, “This retreat will be designed to impart the pro-life spirituality on which we have trained activists around the world for years. It is a spirituality based on the teaching, life and example of three pro-life icons whom I was privileged to know personally and who shaped profoundly my own vocation to pro-life activism: Blessed John Paul II, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, and Cardinal John O’Connor, who ordained me to the priesthood and gave me permission to devote myself fulltime to the defense of the unborn.”

Fr. Frank added, “From its inception, Priests for Life has had a close and fruitful relationship with the Archdiocese of Chicago. When Cardinal O’Connor released me to be the first full-time director of the organization, Cardinal Bernardin of Chicago permitted Fr. Jim Heyd to be the Associate Director. Cardinal George later permitted Fr. Heyd to work with us full-time. On many occasions over the years, the Archdiocese and its parishes have welcomed Priests for Life. Now, with the exemplary work of Margie Breen, and under the inspiring leadership of Cardinal George, the Archdiocese continues to advance the pro-life cause, and I am honored to assist in that effort.”
