Vote on 5-month abortion ban scheduled!

Today, I stood with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and half a dozen Members of Congress outside the U.S. Capitol as he announced that the House will vote on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act a week from today on Tuesday, October 3rd! (scroll down for photos)

Will you go all in with your SBA List team to push this bill through the House, through the Senate, and to President Trump’s desk?

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act would ban abortions after 5 months, a point by which science shows unborn children can feel pain. The bill actually passed through the house in the last Congress (2015). But we need to pass it again through the House and send it to the Senate to build momentum to
get it to the President’s desk!

Thankfully a very generous friend of SBA List just stepped forward and made a $50,000 Matching Challenge to you and other SBA List members. He will match every gift you make by midnight on September 30, dollar-for-dollar.

Your gift of $5 will be doubled to become $10. Your gift of $25 will double to become $50. And your gift of $100 will be doubled to have $200 worth of impact for the cause of LIFE!

This matching challenge could not have come at a better time. Will you stand for life and join the fight to push this bill forward — and save lives? Please click the link below to make your special gift now:

>> Marjorie, please accept my gift towards the September Matching Challenge: https://www.sba-list.org/september-matching-challenge

Thank you for standing alongside me and the rest of your SBA List team as together we raise our voices for unborn children!

— Marjorie

P.S. I’ve included some photos from today’s press conference below.

P.P.S. We still need to raise $31,952 in order to meet the $50,000 matching challenge made by a generous friend of Susan B. Anthony List. With just a few days left to go before the September 30 deadline, I’m starting to get worried we may not reach this goal. Please will you make your most generous gift today, remembering that your impact will be doubled thanks to this generous friend. You can click here to make your special gift right now: https://www.sba-list.org/september-matching-challenge

Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy meets 5-year-old Micah Pickering who was born at 22 weeks.

At the press conference today I shared the disturbing fact that the U.S. is one of only seven nations in the World to allow elective abortions after 5 months.

We had such a great media presence at the press conference today! I counted 12 news cameras.

16 Top Pro-Life Moments of 2016

Counting Down the 16 Top Pro-Life Moments of 2016

By Andrew Bair

1.The March for Life goes on in the face of historic DC blizzard: Despite many buses being forced to turn around to avoid the impending blizzard heading for the nation’s capital, there was still a strong and dedicated showing pro-life support on the streets of Washington for the 2016 March for Life. It’s clear that no amount of snow or bad weather can shake the commitment of the pro-life grassroots!

2. Four states enact a ban on dismemberment abortions: Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and West Virginia joined a growing number of states in banning the horrific dismemberment abortion method. These laws not only protect unborn babies but serve to educate the public about the brutality of abortion. Read more about dismemberment abortions.

3. Ohio, South Carolina, and South Dakota join 12 other states in passing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act: This important legislation extends legal protection to unborn children 20 weeks and older. Substantial medical and scientific evidence shows that by this stage, if not earlier, babies are capable of experiencing pain.

4.. Other state legislative victories included Oklahoma passing the pro-education Humanity of the Unborn Child Act, Georgia passing positive alternatives legislation, Indiana passing a ban on selective abortions based on sex or disability, and Louisiana increasing their waiting period from 24 hours to 72 hours.

5. The 40th Anniversary of the Hyde Amendment: First enacted in 1976, the Hyde Amendment has saved an estimated 2 million lives from abortion. This annual appropriations amendment stops taxpayer dollars from being used to fund most abortions and abortion coverage through government programs like Medicaid.

6. Pro-Life candidates triumph in 2016 elections: Up and down the ballot, pro-life candidates scored impressive victories. Here is how National Right to Life fared in the 2016 elections:

7. Hillary Clinton forced to defend late abortions during presidential debate: During the final presidential debate, moderator Chris Wallace brought up the topic of abortion. In a moment that was even cringe worthy for Democrats, Clinton reaffirmed her support for the partial-birth abortion method and abortions throughout all nine months of pregnancy. By contrast, Trump said, “I am pro-life, and I will be appointing pro-life judges.”

8. Planned Parenthood and EMILY’s List spend big and lose big in the 2016 elections: Millions upon millions of dollars were spent by the political arm of the nation’s largest abortion provider and by EMILY’s List, a radical pro-abortion PAC that only backs female Democrats who support abortion without limits. Planned Parenthood alone spent at least $38 million in the elections.

9. Pro-Life selections announced for key cabinet positions: The incoming Administration has announced the selection of several pro-life champions for key roles. These include Rep. Tom Price for HHS Secretary, Sen. Jeff Sessions for Attorney General, Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary, Gov. Nikki Haley for U.N. Ambassador, and Kellyanne Conway as Counselor to the President.

10. Doritos Super Bowl commercial highlights humanity of unborn children, provokes outrageous meltdown from abortion advocates: NARAL Pro-Choice America lost it on social media during the Super Bowl when a Doritos ad featured an unborn baby on an ultrasound. They trashed the ad for “humanizing fetuses,” further exposing how out of touch the pro-abortion movement really is.

11. U.S. House and Senate send filibuster-proof reconciliation bill to President Obama’s desk that would have defunded Planned Parenthood: Despite President Obama’s veto, the move set a precedent for advancing such a bill under a new president, without 60 votes in the U.S. Senate.

12. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell holds the line and prevents the appointment of pro-abortion Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court: By holding off a Senate vote on Obama’s Supreme Court pick, McConnell injected the issue of the Supreme Court into the 2016 elections, an issue which helped mobilize many pro-life voters. Now, the vacancy left by the late Antonin Scalia will be filled by someone chosen by the President-elect, who repeatedly promised to appoint someone who reflects Scalia’s judicial philosophy.

13. Pro-Life traitor Rep. Renee Ellmers (NC-02) defeated in GOP Primary: There were many electoral triumphs for the pro-life movement in 2016 but the defeat of Rep. Renee Ellmers was particularly symbolic. In early 2015, Ellmers launched an extended public campaign against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Although the bill ultimately passed the House, the delay and damage inflicted by Rep. Ellmers diminished its chances in the Senate, where pro-abortion senators were able to organize a successful filibuster to prevent the ban from advancing despite the support of a majority of senators. “There is no member of Congress in recent memory who did greater harm to a major piece of pro-life legislation, while claiming to be pro-life, than Renee Ellmers,” said Douglas Johnson, Director of Federal Legislation for National Right to Life.

14. Latest CDC report shows a 5% decline in abortions nationwide: The latest numbers from the CDC are confirmation that America is moving, perhaps even accelerating, towards a culture more hospitable to unborn life. Read the report from NRLC’s Dr. Randall K. O’Bannon.

15. Pro-Life advocates shine light on the tragic legacy of Planned Parenthood on its 100th birthday: In 2016, Planned Parenthood celebrated 100 years since its founding. While it celebrated a birthday, there were millions unable to celebrate birthdays due to abortion.

16. House Select Panel on Infant Lives investigates harvesting and trafficking of baby body parts, highlights importance of protecting born-alive abortion survivors: Testifying before the panel in April, Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, the prime sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, hit the nail on the head when he noted, “Here, on this basic reality, we can and must find agreement: Babies are not the sum of their body parts. Babies are not meant to be bought. Babies are not meant to be sold. Babies are just that—babies. They’re meant to be welcomed and rejoiced over, held and nurtured.”

Who Are We Voting For In The Ohio Primary Election?

Ohio Right to Life

Friend –Today, we are just under one week away from the Ohio Primary Election! The question at the top of everyone’s mind is which way Ohio will swing in our pick for President of the United States.

You might know that our affiliation with National Right to Life prohibits Ohio Right to Life from endorsing for President in the Primary Election. Our own president, Mike Gonidakis, will play a role in that process as he sits on the Board of National Right to Life. In the meantime, we do want to provide you with a comparison of the candidates’ pro-life credentials. (Click here to view and download Presidential Comparison.)

We strongly urge you to cast a vote for the candidate you believe will work to defend human life from conception until natural death; who will stand up to Planned Parenthood; who will appoint a Supreme Court Justice who will overturn Roe v. Wade; who will protect religious freedom; and who will oppose the life-threatening policies of Obamacare.

Pro-life Presidential candidates Senator Ted Cruz, Governor John Kasich, and Senator Marco Rubio (listed in alphabetical order) have modeled these values through their actions in office.

Additionally, we want to highlight some quintessential pro-life candidates who are running in Ohio and have received the endorsement the Ohio Right to Life PAC.

Running at the top of the ticket are pro-life U.S. Senator Rob Portman and pro-life Judge Pat Fischer. An original co-sponsor of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act as well as the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, Senator Portman stands as a stark contrast to pro-abortion and pro-Planned Parenthood Sherrod Brown and Ted Strickland.

Judge Pat Fischer is a well-respected member of the legal community. He has a depth of experience in Ohio’s judicial system, a commitment to ethics and professionalism, and opposes judicial activism, preferring Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s example of judicial restraint.

Other notable candidates include Congressman Dave Joyce (U.S. House District 14), Tim Derickson (U.S. House District 08), State Senator Larry Obhof (Senate District 22), and Matt Huffman (State Senate District 12). All of these pro-life leaders have 100% pro-life voting records in their respective offices. They are proud defenders of human life, have consistently stood up to Planned Parenthood, and are committed to putting an end to abortion.

“Pro-Life and Pro-Woman Go Hand-in-Hand.”

Hi Mary —

Will you be at the March for Life this year?
The theme of this year’s March – which takes place on Friday, January 22, in Washington, D.C.– is “Pro-Life and Pro-Woman Go Hand-in-Hand.”

This theme emphasizes the reason for much of what your Susan B. Anthony List does as the political arm of the pro-life movement.
SBA List exists to advance pro-life leaders who, in turn, fight for lifesaving legislation. Thanks to you – as well as the efforts of our congressional allies in the last year – we have seen historic votes on compassionate legislation including the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and defunding Planned Parenthood.

Those initiatives are all about protecting the lives of unborn babies and their mothers.

I hope you can be at the March for Life this year, Mary. I will be speaking at the rally prior to the March to introduce a very special video that you’ll hear more about in the weeks to come.

I hope to see you there!

Senate Vote on Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act “Not a Defeat, but a Stepping Stone towards Victory”

NRL News Today

Senate vote on Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act “not a defeat, but a stepping stone towards victory”By Dave Andrusko

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)

Yesterday 42 United States senators—40 Democrats and two Republicans—voted against advancing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. At his snarky best, Senator Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) dismissed the attempt to make the Senate actually vote on H.R. 36 as a “show vote designed to honor the political wish lists of extremists.” Let’s consider for a moment what actually happened yesterday and what it may portend.

First, while 54 senators (51 Republicans and three Democrats) voted to take the bill up for debate, 60 votes were required. That’s the way the Senate now works on “controversial” legislation.

What was it that we “extremists” wanted the Senate to vote on? What “extreme” legislation did H.R. 36 represent?

Here’s how Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the chief Senate sponsor of the legislation, characterized the Senate’s action (or inaction) in a statement issued Tuesday:

“America is at her best when she’s standing up for the least among us,” said Graham. “Even though we were not successful, this votes marks an important milestone when it comes to protecting the unborn. We took the first vote in the Senate and were able to see where every Senator stands. Today, the battle begins working to bring more supporters to our cause.

“There are only seven countries that allow wholesale abortions at the 20-week period including China and North Korea,” said Graham. “We should no longer be part of that club.”

At the age of 20 weeks or five months post-fertilization, scientific evidence tells us an unborn child can feel pain. Pain medication is administered directly to the unborn child in second-trimester fetal surgery, in addition to anesthesia. The unborn child shows physical, chemical, brain and stress responses demonstrating pain at this stage of development.

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is based on science, has overwhelming public support, and is necessary to protect unborn children from painful, and untimely deaths.

But when something that ought to have been moved along for a vote doesn’t, it’s easy to be disheartened. That is why Sen. Graham’s last paragraph is so important to remember:

“I view today’s vote as the start of a journey, much like the one we used to pass the Unborn Victims of Violence Act and the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban into law,” concluded Graham. “The sooner this legislation becomes law, the better. We are on the right side of history.”

Passing legislation that is supported by the American people will nonetheless always be tough sledding when pro-abortion members of Congress are extremists times ten on abortion. But it can be done, it has been done, and it will be done again.

Consider the very commonsensical parameters of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. It extends general protection to unborn children who are at least 20 weeks beyond fertilization (which is equivalent to 22 weeks of pregnancy — about the start of the sixth month).

NRLC laws needed to limit selling of baby tissue

 National Right to Life
When Planned Parenthood’s senior medical director was caught on video admitting that their abortionists would adapt their late abortion procedures to do them in a way that they could sell the body parts – hearts, lungs, livers, even whole heads – many people were shocked and surprised.
We weren’t.
Sadly, we know all about the business Planned Parenthood is in.  They’re in the business of killing unborn babies.  We know they, like many abortion clinics, sometimes have a problem disposing of the bodies of the unborn babies they kill.  If they can make a few dollars selling parts of those bodies, it’s not surprising at all they would do so.
There have been calls for legislation to stop this grisly practice.  But since the companies that buy these body parts prefer them from older unborn babies, one of the most effective way of at least limiting this abuse would be to pass the national Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
Think about it:  These companies often specifically look for tissue from unborn babies older than 20 weeks – in other words, they are hunting for and encouraging the abortion of babies old enough to feel excruciating pain when they are aborted!
Our Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, already enacted in 12 states and passed in the U.S. House of Representatives, would ban elective abortions past this age.  And our Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortions Act, passed recently in two states, would further greatly reduce the number of abortions performed at the stages that can produce the large, well-developed organs often desired by the vendors in baby body parts. Please help us pass these needed laws in more states, and the Pain-Capable bill as it moves to the U.S. Senate. Your financial support can help us educate the American public on the tragedy of these later abortions; activate them to call and write their elected officials to get them to pass these protections; and save many, many lives of precious unborn children who should never be thought of as body parts to be sold after they are dismembered so horribly and callously.
Please help us stop this abuse, and the tragedy of these later abortions with your generous donation today.
Thank you.
Carol Tobias, National Right to Life President

No Lamborghinis For Planned Parenthood

Hi  —

In 2013, Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider, received $528 million in taxpayer funding. That’s enough money to purchase almost 2,200 Lamborghinis.

If you saw the latest undercover video released about Planned Parenthood earlier this week, you know the reason I brought up Lamborghinis is because Dr. Mary Gatter, one of Planned Parenthood’s top “doctors”, joked about wanting to buy one of these luxury cars. She was haggling over the price of body parts harvested from aborted babies.

A week earlier, another undercover video showed Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Deborah Nucatola sitting at lunch calmly sipping wine while talking about “crushing” unborn babies and using the now-outlawed partial-birth abortion procedure to kill the innocent unborn. Reports indicate that there are even more videos on the way.

>>> PLEASE GIVE: Your donation of $25, $50, or your most generous gift today will help us continue to fight against Planned Parenthood and the atrocity of late-term abortion.

It is unconscionable that a top Planned Parenthood official can joke about buying expensive sports cars while talking about a “less crunchy” abortion procedure to better harvest baby organs. It is sickening that Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards could only bring herself to apologize for the “tone” of the first video, not the content. Planned Parenthood’s apologists, including Hillary Clinton, have fallen all over themselves to not comment on the matter.

Barack Obama’s press secretary said today he hadn’t even bothered to watch the video.

Currently there are at least 8 states conducting investigations of Planned Parenthood.

Congressional investigations are underway with possible hearings coming up.

Additionally, the U.S. Senate will soon vote on a bill that will stop abortions after five months. Outlawing these late-term abortions would prevent Planned Parenthood from being able to profit off the sale of body parts in the first place.

Your SBA List is working around-the-clock to fight the despicable practices of the abortion giant and to make sure your elected officials take immediate action. It starts with getting the Senate to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This limit on late-term abortions would save countless lives of the unborn and also wipe out part of Planned Parenthood’s income.

Mary, your support has been crucial to our successes in the past, and I want to thank you for that. Without supporters like you, we wouldn’t be able to do all the things we do to help protect life on a daily basis. I’d really appreciate it if you would dig deep right now and give us a gift of $25, $50, $100, or more today to help us fight against the inhumanity of Planned Parenthood.

Thanks again for all that you do to protect life and for your support,

Marjorie Dannenfelser
President, Susan B. Anthony List

P.S. Any amount is greatly appreciated – please give $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can.
