North Carolina Senate passes strong pro-life bill

Governor Rick Perry needs our help. Yesterday, Texas started its second attempt to protect unborn children and their mothers.

And, this time, with your help, we’ll win this fight.

The mob scene that NARAL, NOW, and Planned Parenthood created last time worked. That’s why they’re ratcheting it up and have returned en masse. Their rallies have already started, and you can bet as soon as there is a substantive vote they’ll storm the State House yet again.

But pro-lifers across Texas are mobilizing too. Hundreds of pro-lifers including SBA List members have peacefully stormed Austin to show Gov. Rick Perry and pro-life legislators that they have their back.

The presence of pro-lifers at the State Capitol has unfortunately brought out the ugliness of the other side. Yesterday, it was reported that a pro-abortion activist told State Senator Donna Campbell that “I hope your daughter’s raped,” while others shouted down the hymn “Amazing Grace” with cries of “Hail Satan!”

These unfortunate incidents show the need for a peaceful pro-life presence at the Capitol. While we must fight passionately for the passage of the bill, we must also be there to be a witness to those on the other side who are filled with so much hate. It is a reminder that as a movement, we are called not only to change laws, but to change hearts.  

That’s why we’re sending Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave – our Vice President of Government Affairs – and her team to make sure this 20-week ban passes, and be a peaceful witness to our cause.

Governor Perry and the other pro-life heroes of the Texas State House need to know that they have our full, unwavering support and the support of pro-life advocates across the nation as they are unjustly attacked.

They’re up to their same old tricks: praising State Senator Wendy Davis for filibustering a life-saving bill, while vilifying Governor Rick Perry for giving Texans another chance to protect life. They glorified an angry mob that bullied its way into the capital instead of recognizing the democratic process that brought this pro-life legislation to the floor.
