September 16, 2013 (LiveActionNews) – You’re pro-life. Now tell me; what are you going to do about that before this Christmas?

If not too much comes to mind, never fear. I’ve compiled a list of 25 activities and events you can take part in. You’ve probably heard about some of these before, but if you’re not actively taking part in at least 5 of them, you could be doing more. We could always be doing more.

Some of us have more time than others, and what you’re able to do really depends on where you are in your life. We all have different talents and abilities, so be sure to take some time to consider what yours are as you decide how to become involved in the great civil rights issue of our time.

There have been a rash of articles in media of late pushing the line that informed consent laws, laws limiting chemical abortions, and challenges to so-called “web-cam abortions” are totally unnecessary, just pro-life ploys to put more obstacles in the way of women getting the “reproductive health care” they want and need.

They say that chemical abortions are safe, rather simple, sort of like a “heavy period,” that women get all the medical attention they need, that they are glad to be able to abort in the privacy of their own homes.

Try telling that to “Kay,” a married, “pro-choice” doctoral student in her late twenties who went through a horrific chemical abortion earlier this year courtesy of her area Planned Parenthood.

Kay’s story is featured on abortionpillrisks.org, the website founded and maintained by Monty Patterson. Since losing his daughter Holly to an infection connected with her chemical abortion in 2003, Mr. Patterson has devoted much of the last ten years to collecting and publicizing medical data and personal stories about RU-486 abortions

It isn’t easy to hear the words day in and day out, or to see over and over the tiny bodies ripped apart or burned to death. It’s gut wrenching. It’s heartbreaking. And for Sarah Terzo of ClinicQuotes.com, it’s part of her life’s mission to expose the truth of abortion from the mouths of those who kill for a living.

As a young teenager, Terzo saw a picture of a child who had been aborted at eight weeks gestation. It had been ripped to pieces and Terzo instantly realized that this was a child who had been killed. The photo roused within her a deep desire to do whatever she could to protect babies from abortion. But after a disappointing high school debate with a pro-choice student, Terzo felt she wasn’t as knowledgeable as she needed to be in order to defend her pro-life stance. Immediately, she began researching in order to prepare for future conversations about abortion.

“This was before the internet,” explains Terzo, “but I started sending away for literature from every pro-life group I could find, going from library to library to get out pro-life books, and looking at old magazines and newspapers, then on microfilm, to learn as much as I could. Everything I learned made me even more determined to fight abortion.[…] The material I found most compelling was the first hand quotes and accounts by abortion providers themselves. I started a project to compile as many of these testimonies as I could and went looking in all kinds of obscure places for them.”

By the time the internet became widely available, Terzo was in college and had amassed a large list of abortion quotes by different abortion providers. She wanted to put this list on the web, but there was no such thing as WordPress or Blogger at the time. Terzo taught herself to build a website from scratch. Her hope was that pro-life individuals would go to the site and use the information she had compiled in their own articles, debates, speeches, and letters to the editor. She also hoped that pro-choicers would read the quotes and change their stance on abortion. And eventually, with the help of fellow pro-life activist Andrew Anderson, Terzo was able to build her blog, now ten times larger than the site she originally built.

RICHMOND, VA, September 13, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Terry McAuliffe has been caught on tape saying he will issue a directive to allow abortion clinics that do not meet state health standards to stay in business if he is elected governor of Virginia.

McAuliffe, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee who is now running for governor against pro-life stalwart Ken Cuccinelli, said he will take executive action to sidestep the requirements on behalf of subpar abortion facilities.

Reviewing the circumstances of abortion facilities in the Old Dominion, he said, “Norfolk is closed.Fairfax is closed, or closing, so there will be 18 [abortion facilities] left.”

“Only one of those 18 actually meet the requirements, so they’ll all close” without an assist from a friendly governor.

“I will issue what’s called a guidance opinion by mid-March ,” he said, “to grandfather in those remaining clinics to keep them open.”

“That’s why this election is so important, and I will do that.” he vowed.

September 13, 2013 (LiveActionNews) – Infants, children and adults with Down syndrome often suffer the effects of social and ethical stigmas. From the moment of a prenatal diagnosis and well into adulthood (if they are not aborted), individuals with Down Syndrome – and their families – may suffer from discrimination, misunderstanding, and ridicule simply because of chromosomal differences.

In an inspiring public move, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have recently reached out in a way that may help to diminish some of the stigma from which persons with Down syndrome and their families suffer.

During Kate Middleton’s pregnancy with Prince George, Tazia Fawley, who has Down syndrome, spent much of her time crafting a beautiful painting in hopes that the couple would receive her offering as a gift after the prince was born. According to the Huffington Post, the painting depicts Rupert the Bear, a children’s classic, flying in a hot air balloon. You can view the painting here.

Tazia spent six months on the painting and when it was completed, the director of Heart and Sold (an organization which advocates for artists with Down syndrome) took a photo of the painting and sent it to the royal couple, asking whether the young family would be willing to accept the painting as a gift.

Here’s hoping none of the women in my family read this post. They are all animal lovers and two of them are moms.

You may have seen the story on the Internet. For some unknown reason a mother elephant stomped on her new born calf.

Thinking/hoping this was an accident, zookeepers at the Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Nature Reserve, in Rongcheng, Shandong province, treated him for injuries, and two hours later returned the baby to his mother.

To their horror the mother elephant attacked little Zhuangzhuang again, forcing them to remove him once more. If that weren’t sad enough, what happened next is even more heart-breaking

A zoo keeper explained to Central European News, “The calf was very upset and he was crying for five hours before he could be consoled. He couldn’t bear to be parted from his mother and it was his mother who was trying to kill him.” He was, in a word, inconsolable.
