Pregnant College Student Rejects Abortion, Plans to Become a Doctor

Pregnant College Student Rejects Abortion, Plans to Become a Doctor
Two years ago, Students for Life of America launched our Pregnant on Campus Initiative, dedicated to helping Students for Life groups provide tangible support and services on campuses to make sure no young girl has to choose between her child or her education
Because sadly, we know that happens every day. She becomes pregnant and everyone on campus – her friends, her professors, and her campus health center – tell her abortion is her only option.

When several of my peers suggested that I get an abortion (like many of them have had themselves), I became disenchanted with the low expectations and lack of faith from my peers. I continued with my education and my twin boys were born during my second year at the university. The father of my boys also continued with his education, graduating with his bachelor’s degree in 2010 and his master’s degree in 2012. Through perseverance, hard work, and support from my family, I was able to graduate with my bachelor’s degree on time (2010), within four years after graduating high school. I completed my master’s degree in counseling two years later (2012), received a graduate award for “Outstanding Graduate Student 2011-2012” from my university, and became a full-time PhD student at the age of 24 from an APA- accredited university (2012). I can gratefully proclaim that I will become the doctor that I had always envisioned.

Democrats Supporting Bills to Repeal Power of Obamacare Death Panels

Democrats Supporting Bills to Repeal Power of Obamacare Death Panels
The death panels that are a part of Obamacare are unraveling further — as even some Democrats are signing on to sponsor bills in Congress that would take away the power of the Independent Payment Advisory Board.

As The Hill reports: A wave of vulnerable Democrats over the past three months has signed on to bills repealing the board’s powers, including Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.) and Reps. Ron Barber (Ariz.), Ann Kirkpatrick (Ariz.), Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) and Elizabeth Esty (Conn.). http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/08/democrats-supporting-bills-to-repeal-power-of-obamacare-death-panels/

little evidence behind pro-abortion criticisms of Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

Hot words but little evidence behind pro-abortion criticisms of Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

FetalPain091604aBy Dave Andrusko Probably because I’d already read a preposterous rewriting of the history of abortion in the United States, by the time I sat down this afternoon to peruse two diatribes against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, I was even less in a mood to suffer fools gladly than usual.

Disagree—that’s fine. But to label the assertion that the unborn child can experience pain by the 20th week a “lie” and “phony science” (the words are Katie McDonough’s but they are hardly unique to her) is simply to substitute overheated rhetoric for a dispassionate assessment of the evidence.

By the way, those “intuitions” that Americans are prone to? She’s talking about how we instinctively recoil when we pause to think about taking the life of a large, increasingly developed 20-week-old unborn child. Those “intuitions” are a reflection of our baseline humanity.

Pregnant At 17 With A Baby Doomed To Die But She Chose Life

Pregnant at 17 with a baby doomed to die at birth, she chose life

BY REBEKAH O’BRIEN Wed Jun 05 13:16 EST

Micah and her newborn daughter Ambra

June 5, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Micah was just seventeen years old when she discovered she was pregnant. But abortion simply wasn’t an option for her and her boyfriend, Kyle.

Though they did not feel ready to parent a child, the couple soon began to feel a growing excitement about the baby growing inside of Micah. However, their excitement turned to fear and heartache when, at an 18-week ultrasound, they discovered that the baby Micah was carrying had a condition called anencephaly. This meant that their daughter had not developed a major portion of her brain, skull and scalp.

Ohio Department of Health to Close Toledo Abortion Clinic

Ohio Department of Health to Close Toledo Abortion Clinic
Capital Care of Toledo Violates State Health Laws

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                    CONTACT: Laura Beth Kirsop

TOLEDOOhio–TodayOhio Right to Life obtained documents issued by the Ohio Department of Health relating to a Toledo area abortion clinic violating state regulations. Capital Care Network of Toledo was provided notice by state health officials of its noncompliance, which according to state law, will result in the abortion provider closing in order to protect pregnant women’s health.

“Ohio Right to Life’s legislative initiatives are successfully protecting women’s health and saving lives as evidenced with this upcoming closure,” said Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life.  “Holding abortion clinics to high standards to protect the safety of pregnant women is a health initiative all Ohioans can agree upon.”

According to Ohio law, Capital Care exists as an Ambulatory Surgical Facility and because of this status, the clinic is not a full-service medical facility. In order for Capital Care Network of Toledo to operate legally, the clinic has to have a transfer agreement with a full-service hospital to handle all cases of abortion complications against the mother.

Capital Care is the third abortion clinic to be closed in Ohio since January due to either health and safety violations or illegal operations.

“The abortion clinics that have been closed were exposed for operating under unsanitary, unsafe and illegal circumstances. No longer will abortion providers get a free pass and put profits ahead of protecting women’s health,” said Gonidakis.

Life at Conception Act Follows the High Court’s Instructions

Life at Conception Act Follows the High Court’s Instructions by Defining When Life Begins

Now the time to grovel before the Supreme Court is over.

Working from what the Supreme Court ruled in Roe, pro-life lawmakers can pass a Life at Conception Act and end abortion by using the Constitution instead of amending it.

A simple majority vote in both houses of Congress is all that is needed to pass a Life at Conception Act as opposed to the two-thirds required to add a Constitutional amendment.

When the Supreme Court handed down its now-infamous Roe v. Wade decision, it did so based on a new, previously undefined “right of privacy” which it “discovered” in so-called “emanations” of “penumbrae” of the Constitution.

Of course, as constitutional law it was a disaster. But never once did the Supreme Court declare abortion itself to be a Constitutional right.

Instead the Supreme Court said:

“We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins . . . the judiciary at this point in the development of man’s knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer.”

Pro-Lifers: Targets of Intolerance, Violence and Harassment

Pro-Lifers: Targets of Intolerance, Violence and Harassment

Dr. Anna Choi

Dr. Anna Choi

Editor’s note. This comes from PNCI—the Parliamentary Network for Critical Issues A troubling trend of pro-abortion violence and harassment toward pro-life advocates is taking place around the world and includes actions directed at medical doctors, clergy, and peaceful pro-life demonstrators of all ages.

These acts of intolerance and discrimination deny others their freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and freedom of worship while threatening personal safety and security. Abortion activists seek to silence and intimidate those who speak the truth about abortion.

These acts take place while pro-abortion supporters at the United Nations and the Inter American Commission on Human Rights at the Organization of American States, along with a number of pro-abortion organizations, are advancing the legal status of pro-abortion activists by defining them as so-called “human rights defenders” who need special protection in countries where abortion is illegal or where opposition to abortion is strong.

Is This Nuts….Or Normal???!!!!

Is This Nuts….Or Normal???!!!!

August 7, 2013
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friend:
The news media really drives me crazy.  Last night as I plugged in my cell phone
to charge before I went to bed, I got a news alert.  I touched the screen and the
headline read “Government issues indictments over Benghazi.”
I don’t know the answers for Benghazi, but there are some things that happen in
the news that you really have to wonder if people are crazy!  I saw a segment on
the news this morning called NUTS…or NORMAL?   A psychiatrist was given examples of behaviors and then determined if the behavior was normal or not.   Here is MY version of NUTS….or NORMAL?:
* It is NORMAL for a teenage girl to feel lost, alone, afraid and vulnerable when
she finds out she is pregnant.  It is NUTS for any responsible adult, counselor,
doctor or others to tell a vulnerable teenager that her life will be ruined and
that abortion is the only option!
* It is NORMAL to feel panic, disbelief and more when a woman (and/or her spouse, etc.) realizes she is pregnant and has adverse economic circumstances.  It is NUTS to think that taking the life of an innocent human being through abortion will solve any financial problems.
* It is NORMAL for young men and women to feel sexual urges before they are married.
It is NUTS to think that contraception or abortifacient drugs are the answer instead of teaching personal responsibility, abstinence and respect.
* It is NORMAL not to have the answers for every question that is asked. It is NUTS for legislators (yes, I do mean Nancy Pelosi and Wendi Davis) to give insane answers like “abortion is sacred ground.”  Does that mean that abortion clinics like Kermit Gosnell’s should be declared places of worship?!
* It is NORMAL to create heroes out of people who do extraordinary actions, especially when they save someone’s life.  It is NUTS to declare someone a hero for wearing  pink tennis shoes and monopolizing the senate floor so that a bill which could save innocent lives is blocked from being voted on.  (Oh dear, am I talking about Wendi Davis again?)
* It is NORMAL for a pregnant woman to have regular doctor’s appointments, take  pre-natal vitamins, and deliver her child in a hospital.  It is NUTS to say that  killing the unborn child with an abortion is healthcare!
I could go on….but I think I’ll leave the NUTS stuff up to pro-death (that’s the
CHOICE they are making!) and abortion minded individuals.  They seem to be taking care of that just fine.
Yes indeed, our work goes on….
S.B. 171 Protects Rape Victims and their Children
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                    CONTACT: Emmalee Kalmbach
DATE: Wednesday, August 7, 2013                                          PHONE: (614) 547-0099 ext. 309
COLUMBUSOhio–Today, Ohio Right to Life applauded the pro-life efforts of Ohio Sens. Charleta Tavares, D-Columbus, and Nina Turner, D-Cleveland, for sponsoring S.B. 171, legislation that protects rape victims and their children, during pregnancy and after birth. S.B. 171 was introduced in the wake of the Cleveland case in which one of three kidnapped women gave birth to a daughter fathered by kidnapper and captor, Ariel Castro.
The pro-life provisions of S.B. 171 include:
  • A victim/birth-mother can place her child for adoption without the legal consent of the offender if the child who is being placed was conceived by rape, sexual battery or unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
  • A victim can obtain a court order to terminate the offender’s parental rights if the child was conceived by rape, sexual battery or unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
Both Tavares and Turner have expressed the desire to prevent “additional trauma” from being inflicted on the mother and her child. Tavares added that her interest is in “ensuring the well-being of the family.”
Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life, agreed with the senators’ objectives, saying, “We should do everything we can to empower victims of rape and to protect both the woman and her child. Laws that enable mothers to take control, make positive choices and affirm the lives of their children and their family are critical to assist with the recovery process.”
Ohio Right to Life thanks Sens. Tavares and Turner for protecting the victims of sexual assault and their unborn children.
