Texas Senate Passes 20 Week Ban

Texas Senate Passes Bill to Ban Late-Term Abortions Despite Abortion Mob
After a day filled with pro-abortion threats, pro-life people hiding in secure areas of the capitol fearing for their safety, jars of feces and urine and protestors disrupting the Senate proceedings, democracy finally prevailed.

Members of the state Senate approved the bill to ban late-term abortions on a 19-11 margin on second reading. The chamber then approved the bill in third reading by the same 19-11 vote. http://www.lifenews.com

Confiscate Jars

Texas Police Confiscate Jars of Urine, Feces From Abortion Activists
Texas police have issued a statement confirming they have confiscated numerous jars of feces and urine that abortion activists planned to throw at pro-life legislators today who are debating the late-term abortion ban.

As LifeNews reported, abortion activists also planned to throw tampons and feminine pads at lawmakers, but the Texas Department of Public Safety statement below confirms the planned assaults on legislators are much worse than that. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/07/12/texas-police-confiscate-jars-of-urine-feces-from-abortion-activists/

Abortion Facilities Same Standards As Surgical Centers

An end to late-term abortion in Texas?
Today, the Texas State Senate is poised to pass HB2/SB1, a bill which will save thousands of children from gruesome late-term dismemberment abortion. It will also hold abortion facilities to the same standard as any other surgical center, and require abortionists to have admitting privileges at a hospital no farther than 30 miles away.

Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other abortion backers have complained that the law will force abortion centers to close, but that’s not true – only the ones that refuse to meet the new, superior standards will close. And well they should.

It Started In Texas

Thanks to your support and prayers, there’s good news coming out of Austin for the first time in weeks: the Texas House passed the 20-week ban!

What’s more the momentum in Texas is starting to swing towards this bill’s passage, and we have Gov. Rick Perry and the pro-life legislators along with your efforts to thank for it.

These brave men and women stood up to the pro-abortion crowd’s screams and signs, and their stand is testimony to the fact that the life of the unborn and their vulnerable mothers are worth protecting.

Now Texas is halfway to outlawing the horrific practices of Douglas Karpen, the heir-apparent to Kermit Gosnell. If this legislation can make it through the Texas Senate, no longer will he be able to snip necks and twist heads off of babies during gruesome late-term abortions.

While brave Texans have fought to protect life, Douglas Karpen in Houston has continued to extinguish the lives of unborn babies. Even though investigations have been launched, his clinics have continued to remain open.

Preventing the next Gosnell and Karpen and criminalizing their special brand of torture can only happen with the passage of this bill. Our fight is dedicated to the lives of innocent babies whose lives have been extinguished at the hands of these monsters.

The fight in Austin has national implications, and the abortion industry knows that. The pro-life movement has put forth a monumental effort at both the national and grassroots levels to defend life in Texas.

Your efforts to spread our message of protecting babies and women have started to get traction. Even the media is starting to recognize that we’re on the right side. While the pro-death activists have chanted “Hail Satan” and used children to hold up their explicit signs, the pro-life movement has been an example of patience and prayer.

Even when they spat as us, we remembered that the abortion debate isn’t about us. It’s about saving the lives of innocent babies.

Americans across the country have seen our selfless message and responded the way we always knew they would. Our grassroots dedication to this righteous message is the reasons why the majority of Texans (and Americans) stand with us. In Texas, a majority has recognized the value of each of the children that Gosnell and Karpen specialized in killing.

Help us expand our grassroots reach to spread this message of life. Make a donation so we can take back the human center of this debate over abortion and protect innocent life.

The World Is Watching

Fr. Pavone: “The world is watching the violent tactics of pro-aborts in Texas”
“Abortion supporters are once again showing their true colors,” said Father Pavone, a priest of the Diocese of Amarillo, TX. “They are threatening pro-lifers with physical violence, chanting ‘Hail Satan’ to drown out ‘Amazing Grace’ and putting profane signs into the hands of children. And the world is watching…. MORE

Who Were These Political Hooligans?

July 12, 2013

Epic battle between good and evil

I wish you could’ve been there. They say everything’s bigger in Texas and that’s certainly true of this legislative battle. Most of the week, I was in Austin, getting an up-close-and-personal view of an epic clash between good and evil. Pro-life Governor Rick Perry and a pro-life majority in the both the State House and Senate have been working on an amazing accomplishment—a major omnibus pro-life bill. You probably know the background, but for those who don’t, allow me to briefly summarize…

Fresh from their “victory” and feeling their oats, the radical activists continued to show their true colors this past week. While pro-lifers sang Amazing Grace in the Capitol rotunda, abortion activists chanted “Hail Satan!” and “Mary should have aborted Jesus!” As the outdoor pro-life rally wound down, attendees sang along to worship music emanating from large speakers. As they sang, the opposition chanted—and I hesitate to even allude to the content—“F*** the church!”

Who were these political hooligans? Evidence shows they were members of MoveOn, Occupy and the Socialist Party among others. And they weren’t there out of a deeply-held conviction. It was a rented mob, bent on causing as much disruption, damage and offense as needed to get their point across. An ad was placed on Craigslist days before the second special session seeking people to show up and protest the bill. The ad offered up to $2,200 a month! Those who phoned the number provided were told they’d be working directly with Planned Parenthood, the group that gets over a half-billion of our federal tax dollars to push their deadly agenda. Many of those who showed up were grungy, smelly and repulsive. Several of their signs had worse content than that scrawled on a public bathroom wall.

This latest battle in Texas clearly demonstrates that those advocating abortion and other social evils are becoming more aggressive and violent. God willing, we expect the Senate to succeed, and when that happens, the opposition will likely unleash their rage on pro-life legislators and advocates, as well as the many deputies assigned to keep the peace. Please join me in prayer that life will prevail over death and that the heroes of the Lone Star State will be protected. God bless them.

Funding Stream to Rape Crisis Centers

Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence Supports Rape Crisis Center Law

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Today, Ohio Right to Life obtained a letter dated June 10, 2013 from the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence (OAESV) thanking State Representatives Kirk Schuring and Nan Baker for their sponsorship of Sub. House Bill 108, which establishes the first ever funding stream for rape crisis centers (Read the letter).

Katie Hanna, the executive director of OAESV, informed the sponsors that the bill’s language “will not impact the services to victims of sexual assault in Ohio.” Hanna concluded, “Victims of sexual assault in Ohio are in great need of services and this bill will significantly improve supports and outcomes for survivors of rape in Ohio.”
