While it is — in an odd way — a compliment to be targeted by Planned Parenthood, NOW and NARAL; it is also humbling.
Their attacks on my veracity, my intelligence, even the name of the SBA List are one thing. Being followed by undercover guys with cameras and “tweeted” vile comments after media appearances are another.
Much of this seeps through to our children. It is impossible to avoid now that they are older. I say this not to engender sympathy, but so you understand how our opponents operate.
When they feel a threat, there seems to be no limit to what they are willing to say or do to quash their “enemies.”
You and I don’t operate like that.
We will state our case firmly, and defeat them fairly at the ballot box and in the legislatures. We won’t lie. We won’t attack people personally.
That is the “human center” of this movement and is why we succeed in the long run.
We know that every life is precious, and our primary goal must be to defend the dignity of human life.
I implore you to remain constant through the attacks from the abortion lobby. They will treat us like their “enemies,” but we cannot take the bait. Our focus must stay on our goal of ending the torture and murder of the unborn.
That’s exactly what we’re trying to do at this very moment in Congress and in state legislatures and it’s exactly why they want to distract and demoralize us.
These babies are the most vulnerable and have no one to stand up for them. We can’t allow the abortion lobby’s attacks to make us back down or walk away. Our mission is too important, and we’re too close. The trial of Gosnell has presented us with an incredible opportunity to truly expose the horrors of abortion and bring true justice for Gosnell’s victims.
As we seize this opportunity, the attacks will get more savage, and I fully accept that reality because I know — that with the help of my family and friends like you at SBA List — I can persevere.
And, for every time that they say that I hate women or try to discredit me for respecting all life, we have to respond. We’ll have to launch campaigns to show that we won’t be cowed their attacks, and if we remain silent, the pro-abortion lobby wins.
